Work

I consider myself tough. I can hang with the best of them. I have thick skin and have dealt with some pretty tough situations over the years. But when I woke up this morning, I knew it was going to be a tough day.

You see, I had an all day meeting on the agenda with one of my toughest clients. I walked into the room, and sat down – and it wasn’t long before she was beating me up and calling me names. There were moments of quiet – don’t get me wrong. I even took a break at one point to check email – but I felt like I was just staring at a blank screen because I was just emotionally and physically exhausted. But I went back into that room and continued playing her games.

At the end of the day, I knew it was all going to be okay. The client came over to me, gave me a big hug and said, “I love you Mommy!” Sometimes the playroom is tougher than the boardroom.
